Arriving riders will be greeted at Bagdogra Airport and transferred to their hotel in Siliguri. Once everyone has arrived, the bikes will be assigned – your steeds for the next week or so. Following that, we will provide an introduction to your bikes and traffic, take a short ride, and conduct a tour briefing. In the evening, we’ll handle some essential paperwork for Bhutan immigration formalities.

The journey commences early (by 7 am), taking us from the hotel to the border town of Phuentsholing. Today’s ride traverses the dense jungles of the renowned Dooars – the foothills of the Himalayas. You’ll pass through enchanting forests, rivers, and streams, crossing lush green tea plantations renowned worldwide as the Darjeeling Tea Estates. We’ll pause for some local tea flavors en route, then proceed through typical North Bengal towns to reach Jaigaon or Phuntsholing – the border towns of Bhutan. Our aim is to arrive in Phontsholing by 10 am. On this day, we’ll also complete border formalities and vehicle permits before staying overnight at a hotel in Phuntsholing. As you step into Bhutan, expect a change in culture and traffic conditions. You’re now in a kingdom that isn’t in a hurry.

Today, you will embark on a journey through misty and winding roads. Note that rain and fog may accompany some or most of your ride, adding to the mystical and nature-filled destination you’re entering. Along the way, we’ll make stops at local teahouses and the Dantak food canteen. Several places will stamp your permits. Weather permitting, we should arrive in our hotel in the beautiful valley of Paro by late afternoon or evening.

This isn’t a riding day; instead, we’ll trek up to the Taktsang Palphug Monastery, better known as the Tiger’s Nest. This is a highly recommended activity for everyone. It’s the top attraction in Bhutan and the most revered Buddhist site. Those not joining the trek can enjoy a halfway walk to a beautiful café offering heavenly views of Taktsang. In the evening, explore the town or visit the Drukgyal Dzong (built in 1647).

After a leisurely morning and breakfast, we ride to the capital city of Thimphu. Bhutan has no traffic lights, so expect some detours to your hotel. We’ll visit the memorial Chorten built in memory of the late King and the Shakyamuni Buddha statue – Buddha Dordenema, built to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the fourth King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. In the afternoon, we’ll visit Motithang Zoo to see Takin, Bhutan’s national animal. On the way back, take a stroll around the majestic Thimphu Dzong and local market.

Today, enjoy a scenic ride through the beautiful Dorchula Pass, also known as the gateway to Central Bhutan. We’ll stop for photo ops at the Pass and the 108 Chortens, a war memorial commemorating the victory of the Bhutan Army over the Assamese insurgents. Weather permitting, you’ll enjoy the best Himalayan views from here. Then, it’s a pleasant ride to Punakha Dzong, also known as Pungtang Dewa Chhenbi Phodrang, the most photogenic Dzong in Bhutan. Our resort, located about 4 km up the hill, offers stunning views of Punakha Valley.

Today, we start our journey back to Phuntsholing en route to Dooars. By late afternoon, we should reach the tranquil town of Chalsa in the Himalayan foothills, where we’ll stay overnight. This marks the last night of the ride, so take a moment to reflect on the days gone by.

We’ll embark on a couple of hours’ ride covering about 100 km. Leaving the hotel in the late morning, we’ll arrive in the bustling town of Siliguri by noon. After returning the bikes, you’re free to fly out at your convenience. We’ll arrange your drop-off at the airport.
