Mt. Khangchendzonga, the third highest mountain in the world, stands as the crowning glory of Sikkim, offering magnificent snow scenery that reigns supreme among the world’s peaks. Riding through Yuksom and Pemayangtse, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of this majestic mountain.

Embark on this journey from Siliguri/Darjeeling, traversing through North Bengal and Sikkim to witness all the essential sights. The ride will feature Darjeeling, renowned as the Queen of the Hills, and the historic 18th-century Pemayangtse Monastery nestled in West Sikkim. Explore Yuksom, the enchanting Rumtek Monastery, the Tibetan Plateau, and the serene Gurudongmar Tso Lake. Don’t miss the picturesque Chhangu Lake, Nathula Pass, and the charming hill town of Kalimpong, making this ride an unforgettable adventure.

Arrive at Bagdogra Airport in the morning or no later than noon. Our team will greet you and escort you to Hotel Marinas nearby. After a quick lunch, we’ll gear up and acquaint ourselves with our bikes.

We’ll provide a briefing on the ride dynamics for the ascent to Darjeeling hill. The journey involves steep climbs and winding paths through lush green tea estates. Our first stop will be at Observatory Hill, offering a panoramic view of the charming hill town. Later, we’ll check into a hotel near Chaar Rasta.

For tea enthusiasts, Darjeeling is a paradise, boasting some of the finest black teas ranging from Rs 5000/- to Rs 50,000/- per kilo. Take some time to indulge in tasting and perhaps purchase some to take home.

Get ready to enjoy the nightlife at Gatty’s Café, Glenary, or any of the lively pubs and bars. With live bands and delicious drinks and food, it’s a perfect way to unwind. However, ensure you retire by 10 pm as we have an early morning sunrise ride ahead.

We set off 45 minutes before sunrise for Tiger Hill, the highest point in the area. Weather permitting, we’ll witness a breathtaking sunrise over Kanchenjunga and the snow-capped peaks of the eastern Himalayan range. On clear days, Mount Everest may also be visible from this vantage point.

After breakfast, we embark on a ride to Pelling in West Sikkim. The route begins with a steep descent down the hill, then meanders through lush green valleys alongside the River Teesta until we reach Melli, the confluence with River Rangit. Here, we take a well-deserved break at a viewpoint near Melli to witness the majestic confluence of these rivers.

Our next stop is the 300-year-old Pemayangtse Monastery, planned, designed, and founded by Lama Lhatsun Chempo, which will involve a short detour. We pay homage at this significant monastery, one of the oldest in Sikkim.

By late afternoon, we check into our hotel in Pelling. Pelling is renowned for its serene holy lakes, ancient monasteries, and pristine landscapes. We visit the enchanting Khechuapari Lake, known for fulfilling wishes, and admire the Kanchenzongkha Waterfalls. Later, we explore Yuksom, the ancient capital of Sikkim, before returning to the hotel. If time permits, we may visit some of these places the next day. Indulge in authentic Sikkimese cuisine featuring Thukpa, Momos, vegetable curry, and soup before settling in for the night against the backdrop of the third highest mountain range in the world.

It is highly recommended to wake up early and witness the sunrise over Kamnchenzongkha. After breakfast, we receive a briefing and ride towards the capital of Sikkim, Gangtok. En route, we glimpse the prestigious and elegant Rumtek Monastery.

In the afternoon, we arrive in Gangtok and check into our hotels. If time allows, we can explore MG Road in the evening and sample some spicy local cuisine like Momos.

After enjoying our time in Gangtok, the only city in Sikkim, we embark on a journey to the unique and sacred lands of North Sikkim. This route is believed to have been taken by Guru Nanak Dev Ji on his journey to Tibet.

We stop at the small hamlet of Mangan for permits to North Sikkim before riding out to Chungthang en route to Lachen. Lachen serves as the base for the iconic destination of Gurudongmar Lake.

As we ascend in altitude, comfort diminishes, and adventure increases.

Following breakfast, we ride out to the North Sikkim Plateau, an extension of the Tibetan Plateau. For the adventurous, a dip in the freezing Gurudongmar Tso awaits. After lunch en route, we journey to Lachung, known as the valley of rhododendron flowers. The evening offers the opportunity to visit Lachung Monastery. We spend the night in Lachung.

We start the day with a late morning departure and visit the Gurudwara at Chungthang as we make our way back to Gangtok. Upon arrival, you can enjoy the nightlife at popular spots like Café Live and Loud, Pub 25, and X’cape, offering great beers, international cuisine, and live music.

After the adventurous journey to North Sikkim, a rest day is well-deserved in the beautiful city of Gangtok. Relax, trek to Hanuman Tok, or immerse yourself in the local culture by visiting the market.

Today, we explore beautiful East Sikkim. After breakfast, we ride to Changu Lake, where you can ride a colorfully attired Yak. Next, we head to Nathula Pass, once the exchange point for the Great Silk Route. Pay homage at Harbhajan Baba Mandir, a shrine dedicated to a veteran soldier. Experience the traditions and customs of the Indian Army and the unique practices of this shrine.

For those with extra time, an optional night stay in Kalimpong is available. After a leisurely morning and breakfast, we embark on a short ride back to Bagdogra. Heavy traffic means we won’t make good time, arriving at our hotel in the afternoon to return our bikes.

Cuisine Suggestions: Tonight, indulge in authentic Nepali cuisine, starting with Raksi, a traditional homemade moonshine alcohol. Enjoy the earthy and fresh flavors of mountain cuisine, including Mismas Tarkari, Chyau ko Tarkari, Gundruk ko Sukuti, and Saag. Don’t miss Khukhura/Khasi/Maccha ko Ledo, a rich gravy of chicken, fish, or mutton.

We then bid farewell to you as you fly out to your next destination.
